This work is a relief sculpture, and it is titled variant based on the various mediums explored and it's distinct form and meaning.
It is a stylized figure that shows the trials of a strong woman, while it also compliments her beauty. It is an embodiment of my perceptions.
The can of water supported by her hands in a weightless manner lays emphasis on strength and endurance, her stylized figure exudes grace, while the burnt patterns on her right hand and crossed right leg symbolizes the scars of her trials in life.
A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water_ Eleanor Roosevelt.
This piece is textured with sawdust, and it is held in place to the metal with layers of brown gloss paint.
In the process of getting this piece done, I got influenced by the multiple colors of the rubiks 3D cube which i added through the use of acrylic, this relates the life of women to the Rubik's cube as a puzzle that is brain tasking. Something beyond the surface.
This work is a piece from my ongoing body of works titled hustle.
