• What is Artyrama?

Artyrama is an online contemporary art gallery focused on the sale of high-quality, unique and often extraordinary contemporary works for art lovers everywhere. Paintings, photographs, sculptures and mixed media are sourced and curated from all over Africa at affordable prices.

We are passionate about African art and are committed to giving these works a global stage to promote the development of art and culture in Africa but more importantly to showcase the amazing talent that exists on the continent and in the diaspora. Artyrama aims to be a powerful showcase of this talent- highlighting the relevance of African art and artists to the world.

 

  • How can I sell on Artyrama?

We’re happy to accept all artists onto the platform provided you are 18 years old and above. If you stock in other galleries, either physical or online, we’re happy to accept for you to sell on the Artyrama site.

  • How do I search for the kind of art I like?

Artyrama offers a vast selection of original works from African artists, but we understand that our the wide selection may be daunting to members who are unfamiliar with our search features. The following provides an overview of the different ways you can search for the art you like.

For a quick keyword search of our entire selection according to art, artist, collection and subject, the magnifying glass at the top right-hand side of the site will expand to a search box once clicked.

Use this if you know exactly which artwork, artist, or subject you’re looking for, or if you'd like to find works of any medium with a certain word (or words) within the artwork's title or description.

The search box also allows you to run an advance search.  This is useful if you don’t know the specific works you’re searching for, but you have something particular in mind. Works can be searched for by artist, category, medium, size and price.

Our site contains four main categories and there are quick view links to these categories beneath the Gallery Link in the menu bar (insert image).

However, you have the option of being more specific with your filet options when using the filter option on the main gallery page.  Works can be filtered by category, size, price and artist.

  • How can I discover new art and new artists on your site?

There are several ways to discover new art and artists on our site:

  • Subscribing to our Collector Newsletter will ensure you’re kept up-to-date with newly uploaded work on the site with our Curators pick of the week.  Featured artists and online exhibitions will also be featured in each edition of our newsletter.
  • Regularly checking our blog, The Wall, will keep you abreast of all news and new works of featured Artyrama artists.
  • Current Exhibitions will be displayed under the exhibition tab on the homepage of the site.

 

  • How do I save works I like for later?

Artyrama has a Wishlist on the site for this very reason.  You can create and personalise as many Wishlist’s as you desire, and all works added to your list/s will stay exactly where you add them provided the works are still available on the site.  Wishlist’s can also be shared direct from the site to a recipient.

  • Do I need an account to make a purchase?

Yes, all users must create an account before they’re able to make their first purchase from the site. Through your account you can make purchases, view your purchase history, create Wishlists, and receive updates on exhibitions and auctions.  

 

  • How do the shipping fees work?

Artyrama has partnered with TBC in order to get the most competitive rates for our members. As fees are determined by both the delivery address and the dimensions and weight of your artwork, simply input the requested information at the checkout to calculate your shipping fee.

Please note that duties will be added for international deliveries if your artwork is leaving the country.

 

  • I’m having some issues making credit card payments

If your credit card is being declined during your purchase, refer to the troubleshooting tips below. If you still experience problems, we recommend that you contact your bank and ask for assistance.

  • Did you enter the correct PIN code?
  • Did you enter the correct CVV code?
  • Did you get a new card with a new expiration date?

About the CVV Code
If using a credit card to make a purchase a work, you will be asked for the CVV code (i.e. Card Verification Value code). On most credit cards (including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards), the CVV is a three-digit number printed to the right of the signature space on the back of the card. On American Express cards, it is the four-digit code located on the front of the card.

Review your bank’s fraud-alert policies

Your bank may flag any suspicious activity on your account which may include first-time orders or high-value purchases (regardless of the card’s available funds)—especially those made online. Your bank may require you to contact them and authorize the purchase before allowing you to complete the transaction.

PayPal Issues

PayPal has various security measures in place to protect their users from fraudulent activity. For this reason, PayPal may occasionally prohibit a buyer from submitting payment. If you’re experiencing issues using your PayPal account, please contact PayPal directly for assistance, or visit their website for troubleshooting information.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Artyrama accepts the following forms of payment:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • PayPal
  • Bank Transfer ₦$£€

 

  • Are there additional charges or fees I need to pay?

Depending on where you reside, artwork you purchase can be subject to additional fees. See below for more information.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

For original artworks, Value Added Tax (VAT) will be added to your purchase at the checkout

Customs Charges

Along with shipping charges customers will be responsible for paying for international customs fees.  Fees will be dependent on the shipping country, so it’s recommended that you refer to your local customs office before processing your order.

Export Clearance Permit

Each piece of artwork leaving Nigeria requires a government clearance permit which is approximately 10% of the site listed cost of the artwork.  Payment of this is the customers responsibility and will be added at checkout once the shipping address has been inputted.

 

  • How can I ensure the artworks are authentic?

Most artworks will feature signatures on the works that will be visible when viewing them online.  Some artists also choose to sign their works on the back of the piece or underneath.

It is important to note however, that signing original works is entirely at the artists discretion, but each ordered piece will be delivered with a Certificate of Authentication featuring the artists signature and a description of the piece.

  • How can I track my shipment?

For the most detailed, up-to-date tracking information, we recommend that you track your package via our courier's website – *input once partner confirmed*

The email notification you received when the artwork shipped with the title “Your order item has been shipped." contains a link allowing you to access a webpage with your order tracking details including your tracking number. Please copy the tracking number from this page and then enter it into the courier's webpage for the latest tracking information.

Our Sales Advisors will also be monitoring your order daily until it's delivered and will notify you of any important information regarding your order.

  • Will my artwork arrive ready to hang?

The details of specific artworks are usually featured in the pieces description but please see below commonly used phrases that may be featured in an artwork description that will indicate how pieces may be packaged for shipment.

Framed – Works that are already framed.  These works arrive flat and are ready to hang.

Stretched – Stretched/Stretched canvas refers to standard canvas paintings or drawings wrapped around a wooden bar.  These works arrive flat and are ready to hang.

Mounted artworks - Mounted works are pieces that adhered to a flat surface, usually Plexiglas, wood or metal.  They are usually shopped flat but are not ready to be hung.

 

  • How long will it take for me to receive my order

Standard delivery times are detailed below along with suggested reasons for delay:

            Deliveries within Nigeria – between 5-10 working days

            Deliveries outside of Nigeria – within 10-14 working days

If you decide that you would like Artyrama to frame your artwork for you, please add an additional 2 days to both your Nigeria and International deliveries.

In some countries the clearing process can be as long as 30 days, so please check your governments international shipping policies for more detailed information.

 

  • How do I view my order status and history?

To check your order status, log into your Artyrama account. From the main menu, hover over XXX on the main menu and click Orders to go to your Orders page.

To track a package in transit, go to the relevant section of our couriers site  in the specific courier's website (i.e. DHL or FedEx). For instructions, see "How can I track my shipment?" *confirm functionality once site is complete*

NOTE: Once your artwork has shipped, you will receive a shipping notification containing important tracking information. Please DO NOT DELETE this notification email as it will allow you to identify your courier and access your tracking number.

 

  • Can an order be cancelled prior to shipment?

Yes, you can, all buyers have the right to cancel purchases any time before shipment, however, Artyrama only accepts refunds on items that are damaged within 7 days of your order delivery date.   In this instance, follow the below steps:

Step 1 – Within seven (7) days of your order delivery date, please email [email protected] providing your order information
Step 2 - Save original packaging!
Step 3 - Take photos of damaged artwork and packaging. Please email these photos to [email protected].
Step 4 - An Artyrama support representative will contact you to discuss next steps.

  • Can artworks be returned?

Artyrama only accepts refunds on items that are damaged within 7 days of your order delivery date.In this instance, follow the below steps:

               Step 1 – Within seven (7) days of your order delivery date, please email [email protected] providing your order information
               Step 2 - Save original packaging!
               Step 3 - Take photos of damaged artwork and packaging. Please email these photos to [email protected].
               Step 4 - An Artyrama support representative will contact you to discuss next steps.

Please note you will be responsible for any return delivery charges, and the risk of loss or damage to the goods that you are returning until they have been received by us.
